Response to Mike Pick about Bruce Lee |

Interesting stories. Has anyone else corraborated the idea that Ed Parker was one of Bruce's instructors? You'd think Dan Inosanto, having been a black belt instructor under Parker himself, might've mentioned this at some point, or Linda Lee or Parker himself or Ralph Castro. I would've also expected Tom Bleecker to've mentioned something like this in his book (what I do recall him saying about the relationship between Bruce & Ed was that Bruce was one of the only guys who didn't seem intimidated by Ed). Also, wouldn't we've seen more kenpo influence in the techniques of Bruce's JKD?
Basically, this story sounds like an ad for kenpo to me, but I have my doubts about how impressed Bruce was with kenpo, & also wonder why Bruce had so many "turncoats" from Ed's school training in his chinatown school (Dan, Jerry Poteet, Larry Hartsell, etc., etc.). | |
