As with Brandon Lee, and any deceased celebrities there are so many fakes around. The one on the envelope looks good but not that hard to get that envelope stamp collectors item from 1960's then add autograph. Not sure I would risk $10,000 on it, what do others think?
There have been some genuine autographed Bruce Lee items on Ebay but also some bad fakes. Unless you buy them from someone that actually knew Bruce Lee, be wary.
Who can forget the infamous Dragonwhite1961 seller on Ebay? Legendary in Bruce Lee Collector circles for some of the worst and most blatant fakes around, but sadly he sold many at high prices including a 'classic' fake in red ink (no kidding!) on b&w photo not only with Bruce Lee's supposed signature but also a message quite long note as well. Dragonwhite1961 has the prestige of probably being in possession of more Bruce Lee 'autographs' than any other collector or dealer in history! What an individual like Dragonwhite1961 might not have realised is , Linda Lee actually looked at one of them was sent a link & said I quote 'it's not right, it cannot be genuine'.
Now Bruce Lee Foundation has reformed and has strong lawyers they plan to act on fake merchandise being sold including fake autographs and act accordingly. Which can only be a good thing, they are aware of people like Dragonwhite1961 as several have reported him and will deal with it if more 'autographed' items appear for auction. One of the British long time Bruce Lee fans has been in touch with Trading Standards in the UK, and passed on the dealers name & address in Manchester, like the Foundation they are just waiting on updates to deal with it and past buyers of spurious items have been advised to contact them.
There are others too on Ebay and other sites but Dragonwhite appears the most prolific thus far.
Rules for buying Bruce Lee autographs -
1) If it doesn't cost that much , it may well be too good to be true! Be careful.
2) If same dealer has offered several or numerous Bruce Lee personally autographed items, be extremely wary! No one person has so many, and check ink isn't still wet!
3) Bruce Lee signed very few 8x10 b&w photos, and fewer still shots from his movies - 8x10 shots from his movies are the most popular for personally autographed items.
4) Unless seller knew Bruce Lee and can be verified, or you are buying from his Estate or Foundation, be cautious!
A lot of fans on the Internet have paid a lot of money for Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee, James Dean autographs, etc but no way are they all genuine. I just don't like seeing Bruce Lee fans getting ripped off but everyone has to follow their own judgement if you buy a fake you believe genuine it is your money.
