was always astonished by how Bob Wall and Chuck Norris "Downplayed" Bruce Martial Abilities after his death.
Norris never missed an opportunity to recall that he is a "professional fighter", while bruce was not.
Jealousy ? Ego ?
I would answer, Chuck saying that yes, he was a professional "combat sports" practitioner, but not a fighter.
The "timing" comment of Bob wall may refer to Bruces incident when they were filming the bottle scene, when Bruce was injured, he said that it was not Wall's fault but rather his timing.
That may have been misinterpreted later on.
The reason bruce never fought in tournaments is because they had rules, while a real street fight does not.
Chuck never miss an opportunity to also remind people that he was a mutiple world champion,
however when you look at fights of that era that was anyway near a "real fight", level was pretty low compared to today.
But anyway, thank god the world champion Jim Kelly was brave enough to clarify it all :
