Yes, Carlo Ponti was Sophia Loren's husband. Apparently, Bruce had an offer to do a film (possibly two, if I remember) from Ponti which Bruce took seriously. Dr. Don Langford in Death by Misadventure states that the film with Carlo Ponti was weighing heavily on Bruce's mind.
I think Bruce was getting all kinds of offers in July 1973 and was seriously considering the film with Ponti. That's probably why George Lazenby said when he was at Bruce's house and Warner Brothers called, Bruce didn't want to talk to them and handed the phone to George. lol
