Sounds about right. It would seem that Ng Ka Seung envisioned Big Boss as being strictly a drama movie with only a few brawling scenes here and there, which would've put all that fighting talent to tremendous waste. Ng wasn't really interested in the potential of doing a contemporary movie, which is why he got sacked. It makes one wonder how the first half of the movie would've turned out (and by extension it's impact on the second half) had Lo Wei been in control of the ship from the very start of the project.
