Response to peeping scene

My father watched the first midnight screening of The Big Boss in late 1971. He was so excited to tell the whole family after watching with his friends. They even saw Bruce Lee at the theatre with his wife and Raymond Chow when the light was on after the show. Everyone was going mad and the whole cinema went havoc. You could hear thunderous roar, screaming and shouting of Lee Siu Lung! Lee Siu Lung! Tung Shan Dai Heng! Tung Shan Dai Heng! (Bruce Lee's Chinese name & The Big Boss Chinese Title). It was a very chaotic scene and Bruce Lee had to be escorted by several stuntmen to leave the back door of the cinema.

I was a primary school kid then and my father only promised to bring me and my elder brother to watch the public screening few weeks after our exams. He told us about the bloody fight scenes, bodies cut up scenes, bed scenes with the prositutes and the peeping scenes etc. They are quite similar to what Jason Hart described in his Big Boss' article on the deleted scenes. I only watched Bruce Lee promoting his Big Boss with Bob Baker on TV as well as his participation in the celebration of Big Boss's success on TV and the TV news on Big Boss's breaking HK box-office record.

Unfortunately, in the public screening, I was disappointed to see many of the mentioned scenes were deleted and the whole movie looked really awkward in the storyline except for Lee's beast style of fighting which I enjoyed very much. I believe Golden Harvest still holds the master print of the original Big Boss print because if Fortune Star or Media Asia got the print, they would have released long time ago. Like everyone else, I hope to get a glimpse of these deleted scenes before I leave this world.
