You don't have to think alike, and that's fine. but "reading too much into it" sounds akin to "reading way too much into Bruce Lee". It's a defeatist perspective that serves no practical purpose, not even as constructive criticism.
Without "reading too much into it", we wouldn't even know, among many other things, that Big Boss was partially based on the real life figure of Cheng Chi-Yong. We also wouldn't have the faintest clue that Ni Kuang was the one who conceived the initial drafts for Big Boss and Fist of Fury. By Kuang's own admission, much of the original FOF script was based on his own personal memories. For all we know, the same could be said for BB.
Perhaps me and others do go a bit overboard with the topic, but that's to be expected. It seems to me you're forcing yourself into a topic in which you apparently have no desire to dig any further.
