This is for US voters. Please list the years you were eligible to vote and the party of the presidential candidate you voted for. If you were a bum and didn't vote then say so. Some of our fellow waffer's support certain candidate A because they say the candidate B is too weak and as such are forced to vote for A. I contend that some of you just vote party lines and don't want to admit it (to yourself or otherwise).

1996: I was a bum and didn't vote
2000: I was a bum and didn't vote
2004: democrat
*2008: I will vote democrat

Do I vote party lines? Well in presidential elections yes. My excuse is that I vote anti-Bush because I think he is an idiot and I see McCain as an extension of that idiocy. I would have voted for Gore in 2000 but I registered too late. Prior to the sham impeachment of Clinton I considered myself an independent, but the republicans shameful wasting of tax dollars for political points turned me into a card carrying democrat. On state and local level politics I vote for the best candidate regardless of party, they are all crooks here anyway lol

I've never voted Democrat, always voted Republican except in 1992 when I voted Libertarian instead of for Bush Sr and 2004 when I voted Libertarian instead of for Bush Jr..

I will vote Libertarian again this year-can't vote for McCain because he's nuts and Obama is a panderer.

In national politics.......POTUS, Senator, Rep......I've always voted Republican. The Dem candidates hardly ever stack up.

In state and local races I'm mainly a GOP voter but not always. In '02 I voted for the Dem candidate in the Texas Governor race......the Donk was Tony Sanchez and he was actually a bigger "Republican" than the GOP guy (Perry) who won the race. Sanchez was an oil man....a rancher.....an NRA bonafide.....and a self-made man. But I digress.

If the Dems could ever run a mainstream, everyday, values kind of candidate then they might have better chances. They've had two over the last 48 years......Bill Clinton..........and Hillary Clinton. One they nominated........one they somehow managed to incredibly mistreat. Neither one did or would get my vote but they are incredibly more palatable to people like me than the McGoverns, Carters, Dukys, Kerrys, Obamas or Bidens of the world.

Sam Nunn.......Dick Gephardt.......Evan Bayh........John Breaux.......even Harold Ford are all Dems that the "heartland" suburban voters can buy into. Note that they are all centrist and tougher fellas..........you'd never catch a one of them with a latte in their hand.

Well I take it you didn't vote for Bush then Joein. He's as country club as any Republican can get. He doesn't drink latte but I'll bet he loves a nice chardonnay at his Mansion in Crawford or the one he's got lined up in Suburban Dallas when he retires.

No, wrong, and how you could draw such a conclusion from what I said is beyond my ability to understand as a rational, logical human being. Voted for him twice and would do so again if had to do it all over again.

Bush was an independent oil man.........ran his own business. Bush was a gun owner and NRA member......that's my stock and trade.

No secret I'll be voting McCain (and things are looking better and better for Mac all the time) and against Obama. I defy anyone to point out anything that Obama has ever done. Let me run through his resume and it won't take long at all:

-graduated school
-became a "community organizer" which means he went door-to-door asking for money
-got elected to Illinois state senate where he sponsored no legislation and had a voting record a corpse could beat.
-got lucky, via Chi-town connections with Ayers, Rev. Wright, Rezko, etc., and fell ass-backwards into a U.S. Senate seat. Since then his voting record has improved only marginally and he is still yet to this day to write or sponsor any legislative effort or champion any cause.

Obama's entire material resume is 140 days as a U.S. Senator where he has produced NOTHING while racking up the award as the most liberal Senator in the chamber. Considering Kennedy, Kerry, Durbin......that's a Hell of a achievement.

Oh, and he uses his mouth real pretty to say a whole lot of nothing.

(P.S., even the Dems are saying these things and getting a little nervous, so)

Joe,

It never bothered you that while Bush ran his own business, he also ran them into the ground? That he always had his dad's rich friend's to bail him out? It's all good that he gave it a try....but we should reward success. I mean, such business acumen could lead one to think that he would run the nation's economy into the ground if given the chance.....

Sure, pissing01, those things do cross my mind.

His oil biz? As far as I can tell, it was an even proposition. What he started he sold for about the same money after you consider the oil depression of the 1980s and that's darned good.

He borrowed a large amount to buy into the Texas Rangers..........which then sold for seriously higher price than he paid into. He made money on it.

Are you saying that a businessman who profits from his ventures is not fit for public office? If so, then who is? The businessman who has a record of losing money and screwing opportunities? Is that a good public servant?

Good God........
