Here's the deal. due to the lack of a stimulus plan, the 3 opposition parties are foming an alliance to take control of the house. Although the Canadian economy GREW 1.3% in the last quater. There is obviously expected to be a drop in the coming quaters, but we may still avoid recession.
The problem being that the PM doesn't want to step down or force a confidence vote. There was an election 6 weeks ago ! The Governer geeneral has 3 choices. To call an election, to accept the 3 party coalition(And therefore dismiss the current PM) or to prorogue parliment until early in the new year when a stimulus budget is ready.
I read a little about the Aussie thing in 75, it's not really the same situation. The King-Byng affair is similar but with vastly different circumstances. Technically Canada was still under British rule.
