Germany remains the world's leading exporter

Despite financial crisis: Germany remains the world's leading exporter in 2008! The turnover is also the first time the 1-trillion-euro limit crack, is the trade association BGA sure!

BGA President Anton Boerner estimates that in November and December while exports and imports have shrunk, but no danger of collapse. Beginning of the year 2009 is also expected to be difficult.

Börner: "The company had last favorable opportunities to hedge their currency transactions. In addition, beginning this summer, the German export economy of the huge economic benefit programs worldwide and then also in the overall economic development is reflected. "

Nevertheless, the trade association expects for 2009 an overall shrinking German economy.

"However we are still with a black eye come," predicted BGA chief Boerner.

"Whether the infrastructure or environmental technologies: We are in absolute capital goods market leader and have the technologies of the future," said Boerner.

Added to the lower fuel prices, which should lead billions relief. "Together with the global economy packages and expected tax cuts in Germany, is also the domestic economy during the coming year to gain", the expert is secure.

I stand corrected. The numbers I posted were only for the first 10 months of 2008. I don't think China published the full 2008 annual numbers yet.

19% of that is auto, that's impressive. Similar to Japan I think.

See, this is a good example why trading with China makes no sense. Germany is the Western "uber exporter," it is not really possible to be better at exports than Germany if we're talking about Western countries. YET, Germany runs a trade deficit with China. A trade deficit that is quite sizeable, actually, at $35 billion. This just shows that when it comes to trading with China, you can't win. China will not allow it. So why play the game? Why not just say, okay, I'm gonna call it quits.

The recent released data, China's export in 2008 was US$ 1.428546 trillion. Wasn't that greater than German's?

The good news for China is that the process trade in China is decreasing while the ordinary trade is growing even it is at slow pace.

China is still competetive and well positioned. The problem is western world reduced their demand.

Some countries or areas' export growth rate in Nov.:
China -2.2%
S. Korea -19%
Japan -27%
Taiwan -23%
German -11%

All are negative numbers.
