BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The 11th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) will be held from Nov. 16 to 21 this year in southern metropolis Shenzhen, almost five weeks later than the previous ones, to avoid an eventful October, organizers said Friday at a press conference.
The annual fair usually runs from Oct. 12 to 17 in Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province.
"October turns out to be a crowded month with many events," said Xu Zongheng, mayor of Shenzhen and director of the CHTF organizing committee.
He said people were often busy touring and holding meetings during the week-long National Day holiday in October.
"It creates inconvenience for the advertising and coordination of the fair, so we rescheduled it to November," said he.
The theme for this year is innovation, enterprise and development. It will fall into six categories, including trading of the hi-tech achievements and a conference of hi-tech talents.
The highlights of this year's fair include an energy-saving and new energy exhibition, featuring environment-friendly cars.
Sponsors of the fair, which began in 1999, include the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Shenzhen municipal government.
