India should model itself as being a alternative to china basically close off Indian market to Chinese imports and tell rest of world to build factories in India if they want access to India.

Letting China flood India with exports and kill India's economic growth rate is simply sucidal for India.

Expecting China to take any action to lower it export surplus with India is folly.

Such a small market is not that important.

Western coumtries do want to invest in India, but Indians are too imcompetent. It is Indians who let them down.

nobody wants to invest where blackout is common daily issues .. 700 millions without power ... jezzzz

India has a lot of potential, but the corrupation, pathetic infrastructure and the bureacrazy just hasn't allowed it to reach its potential...Maybe never will....

The trade deficit between India and China actually is not that different from the trade deficits the chinese have with US, Brazil or Russia. But what makes worse for India is lack of mature infrastructure which directly effects the manufacturing potential. Corruption, govt interferance etc are present in china as well.So i dont think those are the main factors, although their effect will also be felt. India's achille's heel has always been infrastructure.The demand for goods and services are rising, the middle class is rising but the facilities remain the same. Its this inability to cope up with the rising demand which lead to the power outbreak last week.While china overspends on infrastructure to the point that some of them become loss making ventures and no one uses them, India is on the other extreme where the existing infrastructure is inadequate for the rising demand.

whatever pipedream the chinese are living in, with respect to infrstructure (which is what i was talking about), India does not need to 'close the gap' with china. The chinese are overdoing it with many of them becoming loss making ventures. Even if India does half of what china has done in infrastructure, it will have the desired effect .India's return on investment is more than china's with less wastage.

Don't embarrass yourself, even when in western leadership India failed to achieve anything, truly shows how incompetent you guys are. Singapore, another perfect example of Chinese potential when giving the right ingredients to develop. China a communist government, with its citizens facing all the disadvantages still manage to surpass and live better than the "democratic" India. The day when China becomes democratic the world is ours.

Second,You are using Singapore an example of Chinese potential, seriously lol ! Singapore has one of the largest concentrations of Indians as well ! Its like Indians using Maiuritius as an example of Indian potential or the Indian dispora in the west as an example. I dont understand why the chinese at the drop of the hat talk about 'potential'. Both Indian and Chinese have 'potenthial' (what ever it is supposed to mean).One only needs to look at their diasporas.
