You can try this (I have WinME with IE 5.5 -- Don't know if this is available in other WINs though.)
'--Regarding Color
Click Tools
Click Internet Options
Click General (tab)
Click Accessability (button)
Checkmark "Ignor color on Web pages"
Click OK (button) to accept
Click OK (button) to close 'Internet Options'
This should help you with the Blue Text on Blue Background problem you said you have.
