Thank you for your e-mail.
Rush is an excellent communicator and a big sports fan. He was hired
for those two reasons, not his politics. His role will be to provide
the fans perspective and to create discussion and debate.
Sincerely,
ESPN Viewer Response

message = To Whom It May Concern,
I am one of millions of ESPN viewers nationwide that are disgusted at
the hiring of Rush Limbaugh for your NFL Countdown show. So disgusted am
I, in fact, that I am organizing a boycott of the entire range of your
programming, all channels, and when I get a list of them, all of your
advertisers. I, and my fellow boycottees are going to contact your
advertisers and let them know we intend not to purchase their products
as long as Limbaugh is employed by ESPN and they advertise on your
network.
You can view the progress of the boycott effort at
http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/257263 I'll give you some
statistics. In one week, nearly 10,000 people have visted the boycott
site. Nearly 100 people have signed the pledge that they will not watch
ESPN while you have Limbaugh in your employ. The rate at which people
are visiting and signing up is increasing exponentially as word gets out
about the boycott.
Limbaugh is an individual that is hated and reviled outside of the
lunatic right-wing fringe to which he directs his comments, which almost
always consist of lies and distortions of the truth. His hiring by your
network is an indication to us that you find his views acceptable,
indeed that you want to promote his ideology. Limbaugh will no doubt
attempt to use the time afforded him on your network to direct comments
at the audience designed to recruit your viewers to his disgusting way
of thinking.
As consumers of your programming (or shall I say, FORMER consumers), we
will exercise our rights to not consume your product any longer and the
products of those who advertise on ESPN. When you have gotten rid of
Limbaugh, we will return to ESPN.
I will write you again when our signups exceed 10,000, and again when
they exceed 50,000. Otherwise, I will not contact you again. Should you
wish to contact me, I am available via the email address above, or at
xxx-yyy-zzzz.
Sincerely,
Steven Leser
