Hey all, RZ Lee, chief instigator of the WM100. We’ve done this 2 years, this will be the third. In the past the ride has been the weekend after labor day. Last year I ran into some of you at Rockerbox, and learned about the Sugar River Mini race schedule. This year I changed the date to not conflict with your race schedule. I may have crossed paths with a few of you several years ago when there was a mini track day at a cart track in Norway IL.
Anyway, the idea for the WM100 is to ride a 100cc (or less) bike 100 miles on some of the best roads in Wisconsin. The road through Wildcat Mountain is as nice as I can find, at least in Wisconsin.
So, we arrive on Saturday, or maybe even Friday if I can get away from work. We camp at the state park (Wildcat Mountain) and mark a course on Saturday. Bench racing and beer go on Sat night, and we start the ride about 9 am on Sunday. This year it’s the 18th of September.
This is a street ride, and I highly encourage street legal, plated, lighted bikes. You can ride as slow or as fast as you want. With that being said, I’ve ridden with Mr. Foully on his quasi-legal Derbi, and watched him swap plates between bikes. It’s your ass if we get pulled over. So far so good, we have never been hassled by the police. We only go through one town (Ontario), and I’m not even sure they have a cop.
We have a 50 mile loop, and we ride it twice. The first year was mayhem, with people going off in all directions. Last year went pretty well, with somewhere around 10 people starting off the ride, and about 6 of us making the 2nd loop.
So put it on your calendar, and join us. I’ve kind of been hoping to turn this into the northern version of True Grits, which is a little bike ride in the mountains of northern Georgia. I hear they draw over 150 entries.
My ride of choice is an RZ50, pics at

I recently picked up a ’77 XL75, and hope to have it in shape for the WM100.
