Mark's American

February 27 2008, 11:35 AM

God, that place is beautiful. My first thought was a renovated church. I looked at the next 2 restaurants but didn't spend much time looking at the menus. I have a few lunches today. Will check it out later.

Looks good, Arthur. I know you will have a great time.

Goode Company

February 27 2008, 2:17 PM

We have enjoyed the BBQ on Kirby over a period of several years, but haven't been there lately. 2 years or so ago, stepsis and I met a classmate who moved to Paris about 40 years ago. She was visiting her family in Houston, and immediately chose the seafood option when we asked her what kind of food she craved. We were at Residence Inn, just down Westpark from Goode Company Seafood (the picture that looks like a diner on steroids--I think they may refer to it as the Kirby location). It was busy at 2-3 p.m. on Saturday. I can't remember what all we got, except I'm pretty sure mine was shrimp. I do remember that we were all happy with what we had, especially the food cooked with mesquite. It was different and delicious, at least on that occasion.

I love Marks

February 27 2008, 2:58 PM

and yes, it IS an old church. Before it was Mark's it was a cutesy clothing store for the 16-24 year old size zeros. Needless to say, I like it mucho more as Marks. Also had a couple of drinks there before my tatoo next door and made fast friends with the sommilier who made us come back to show him our "art". Then cut up with some LSU folks at a nearby table. Big fun. Even bigger food.
