Lunch at Creole Skillet

March 27 2008, 4:30 PM

We enjoyed lunch and company at Creole Skillet today. The place was jumping with lunchgoers and that may have affected the service a bit, but an overall pleasant experience. Mrs. Fury and I were joined by her friend, Kelly, from work and Timmy (Roux-B-Doo) and Josh from Carvival Cruise Lines met us there, too. Here's some pics http://picasaweb.google.com/hsharmison/CreoleSkillet

Even more pics

March 27 2008, 6:27 PM

It's always a pleasure to see TimmY and it was nice meeting Josh. My friend Kelly had a very nice time as did I. Service was a bit slow, but they were busy so I'll let them slide since they're new.

Josh's bruschetta (quite tasty):

Kelly's chicken club on croissant with potato salad:

My cajun burger with jambalaya (not good jambalaya - too dry & Josh said it looked like a box mix):

How did the gumbo compare to Prejean's?

March 28 2008, 6:25 AM

That's how I rate all duck and andouille gumbo!

Nice pix, you two. That beef/sausage burger spoke to me just now.

Re: Prejean's

I haven't been to Prejean's since the late Chef Jimmy Graham was in charge of the kitchen, but Creole Skillet's Chef Trent Rapps' (Formerly of Austin's and New City Grill) version is super! It has a nice, smoky/spicy flavor profile that is hard to stop eating! I'll get me a bowlful instead of a cup next time!
