I know that Luke Taylor was undefeated until the Semi's of state last year, but I don't think this kid has what it takes to be a state champ. I just keep thinking about him as a Freshmen coming to the Reed Custer Regional at 19-1. He was seated number 1 and ended up 4th. None of the three guys that qualified for the Plano sectionals qualified for state. Last year, Praire Central goes to a different Regional and Sectional (both south of Plano) and qualifies with an undefeated record. Would this have happened last year if he would have went through the same regional and sectional. I don't remember who was at that regional at his weight class, but I do know he would have had to go through BeeBe at Sectional. If he had gone through the Plano Sectional again, would he have done as well? We know he would have had one loss going into state. Would you still rank him as high? I think since he had a weaker regional, Sectional and weaker first match at state, his success is obscured.
