Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

The Pieritz’s were nestled all snug in their beds,

And RayMo in his 'kerchief, and Big Bash in his t-shirt and cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be the Lock.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name.

"Now, Orry! now, Jeff Gale! now, Mikey Benefiel and the Beebe’s!
On, Willy! on Haefy! on, JonahMan and Winterhalter!
To the top of the podium! to the top of the state!
Now sprawl away! sprawl away! sprawl away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of medals and plaques, and Dave Gannoway too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney the Lock came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of trophys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the brackets in his hand, calling out the Hulkster.

The stump of a pen he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke coming from his ears, you knew
he was debating his rankings with gleeth

He was laughing and grinning, a right jolly young elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know he picked Beebe to go down.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the brackets; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Will Chuck be number 1 on February 21st? Ricky
Jr. will be in the top 3! Merry Christmas to All and to
All a Good night!."

that was a nice little rhyme...but come on man, you have to admit it was a little weird...im gonna watch my choice of words here since i dont want offend anybody...but maybe you should "straighten" your act up....

Lighten up man! I'm just having some fun. "Straiten" up? Your not assuming anything are you? That wouldn't be very festive now would it?

Why don't you enlighten us some more about how great the BNC is over the I-8? Let's check out last year's Champaign visit since you seem so intent to compare the two and remind everyone how weak the I-8 is. How many BNC guys were on the top step in Champaign? Demus from Byron. That's it. How many I-8 state champions? Olson from Sandwich, Lockwood from Wilmington, and Villarreal from Plano. You know, the same Villarreal who stuck Oregon's Rogers in the finals. Where are your stats for your I-8 bashing? Do you have any or do you just spout off with no facts? Me clueless? Look in the mirror.

got the better of me so I looked at last years state tournament brackets. The I-8 sent 19 wrestlers to Champaign -- 9 from Sandwich alone. 3 I-8 wrestlers won state championships, 1 placed 2nd and 1 placed 4th. The BNC sent 15 wrestlers to Champaign -- Oregon had 6 of these. One BNC wrestler won a championship, one took 2nd, 2 placed 3rd and 2 placed 4th. Clearly both conferences were very strong, but the I-8 was better last season.

Thanks for the full stats, Ancient 45. That has been part of my argument with SV Fan. There is no doubt in anyone's mind (well, most minds, I guess) that the I-8 and the BNC are the premier Class A wrestling conferences in the state. The data speaks for itself. But when I read from a certain poster how weak the I-8 is, it was time to refute the statement (s). Thanks for the well-thought out, fact-based post.

Think how many good kids don't make it to Champaign because of Montini being in the Plano sectional. Add Montini to the Byron sectional and see how that affects your sectional. They sent 13 kids to state last year. That is 13 kids that might have made it out in another sectional. As tough as the Byron sectional is, Montini's presence at Plano hurts a kid's chances of going to the dance. Everyone talks about how Montini is what makes Plano so tough. I'd gladly like to see them elsewhere. Do you want them?
