Where do I start???? Well it was a very very weird day... Many big upsets, many big suprises... The police were their investigating a robbery... It was crazy... Oh yea... We had a biting incident!!! Gotta love those....Can you say DQ'ed????
103- Alber comes from the lil northern town of Dakota, Illinois to shock the hometown favorite to win it... Clark beat Rush in the semis in a great match... I still feel Clark is the 2nd best kid in Class A at 103...
112- Zurcher beat Soloman in a not to loaded weight... Not a bad finals match... Zurcher has a shot at being top 10 material...
119- Great match... I told RayMO that MILKS would pull it off.. The kids knows how to win, and he did just that.... He beat Loy in a very good match...
125- Suprise... Lange threw a suprise party and didnt let anyone other than GCMS know.. I was shocked when he beat DeCap... but I will go out on a limb and say it wont happen again... Just ask the Oregon boy.... Warlop wrestled tough and finished in 3rd place...
130- Wow.. Is all I can say... Olsen won it.. But it wasnt the finals match he expected... Davis got second... Olsen won 2-0... Its to bad that the story at this weight was Pieritz vs. Davis... Did Pieritz get robbed is the question.... He will shake it off.. And knows he will never be put in that position again... And it showed later in the day... Pieritz over Blake 19-7..... Pegg finished 5th.. Was it robbery? You make the call!!!!
135- One name.. GOSA!!! He continues to wow me... Graybill will make things interesting at sectionals!!!! Hinzman finished in 3rd....
140- Lind beats Taylor... 18-10... Kindlesperger is making me a believer... Is it because he was a Jaguar??? Maybe.... He was beating Lind in the finals by like 9, when Vince twisted his knee....Amy went on to finish 4th... I have a feeling Byron will be interesting on the 14th and 15th....
145- I believe it was Burton of Monmouth that won this weight.. Not a very loaded weight class... But some good matches...
152- Medina vs. Griffin in the finals... I didnt catch the match though.. Sorry....
160- Wenger... Is the man to beat... And nobody could do it at Orion.... Will this kid be beat again??? Hmmm...
171- Garrity earned his OW... He dominated Winterhalter... It was clear that Garrity was the better wrestler on this day.... Now who is #1??? I will do some thinking about that!!!!
189- Gleissner got the job down.. To bad he was wearing a very ugly singlet.... That yellow didnt look to great.... But you made it look as good as possible.. Nicholas is one of the strongest sophmores I have ever seen!!!! He out muscled Gleissner, but that isnt everything!!!!
215- UP UP and AWAY... Was what Mike Beam was thinking.. This kid launched Feiden... To win it with less than 10 seconds left.. It was nice to see a big guy throw to win.... this kid has a bright future... but will take some lumps this year...
275- Peterson was the top dawg again.... Was it the grunt???? If I was another HWT I would try that... It appears to be working.....And its very intimidating.. I saw RayMo shaking in the stands!!!!! The other Feiden looked tough, but not big enough.... Franics finished 3rd I believe!!!
Team:
1- Dakota... Just to tough in tournys... Can you say Bonus pts.. The way them kids run the wing series.... Its impressive....
2- Riverdale... Tough team will tons of studs.... A better dual team though.... They will turns some heads at state... Will the give Montini a run??? Most likely NOT... but hey who knows....
3- Alleman... Missing many wrestlers and still finishd up there.... Not bad.. They should be proud... Will it happen again next year????
4- AFC... I didnt expect to see these guys here... They were lead by the upper weights... Congrats on the great tourny guys....
OW lower weights... Kindlesperger (Riverdale) well deserved.... He would have had my vote, even though it doesnt count....
OW upper weights... Garrity... Who wouldnt have picked this kid????? I know I would have...
As you can see it was a very interesting day and tourny... I know Alleman almost had a coach get booted... It was nice to see him stand up for his wrestler... Because what happened wasnt right... I know others have it on tape, and will agree.... I know it was the same ref that robbed Peterson of state last year.....

From what I saw out there Dacis did get three takedowns but for sure one, possibly two, were charity calls. Also, Piertz got hosed out of takedowns so htat is aobut an 8 point swing. I will agree with one thing though. Whoever that old guy was that was the ref needs to hang em up because he sucked not only in this match, but all day long.

I know everyone will say I am bias, but I will try not to be... I usually am not.. Davis wrestled a great match, Pieritz didnt... If Anderson was in the middle I honestly think the score would have been different.. Would the outcome? I cant say.. This lose was the best thing that could have happened to Chuck... If you saw him after that, you will know what I am taking about.. He tore Lyle from Plano apart.... Then he goes into his match with Blake from Riverdale who was a state semifinalist last year.... Olsen was in a tight match with Blake, untill he caught Blake.. Olsen saw the opening, and got the job done with the pin... Pieritz on the other hand was more aggressive and dominated his match with Blake... But what happened between Pieritz and Davis is over... And to be honest I think Chuck is happy things turned out the way they did.... Because you will see a whole new wrestler at state... Congrats to Davis on his second place finish... And Thatd boy Darren on winning it... Did you get your FREE HUG????

im surpirsed you arnt saying that he lost because his sack still hurt...like he did on thursday.he lost and started crying about it--thats the good ol alleman way, cry and make excuses...

Call me or Chuck or Alleman babies... Thats fine... But lets get one thing straight... Get the facts straight before you run your mouth... You try to make me look dumb, but in the end its yourself that looks dumb... Nice try...

how am I making you look dumb, and nice try what. Was that not his excuse for his poor wrestling Lock. Stop trying to look around the truth, cause you know Im right. and that other person that said he won that match, did I ever say he didnt--im talking about the tourny here, not his other matches...learn how to read wut is written

Another well run tournament by Orion but a kinda strange one. Great wrestling.
103- Alber beats Clark in a great O/T match 5-3. The semis between Clark and Rush was awesome too. It was 3-2 Clark.
112- Zurcher Looks like State Placer material.
119- Loy was my pick here. He wrestled great but Milks got it done. Was Loy preoccupied? I heard his Grandpa was taken to the hospital right before the start of the Championship round. Hope he's ok.
125- Suprise is right. Looked like Lange was pretty fired up. Warlop gave Lange all he could handle. Ty Schurr is gonna surprise people. I think the kid's headed to State. But the story in this one is Lange over DeCap. DeCap is a winner though so he will come back stronger and better come State Tourney time.
130- This weight was stacked with Olsen, Davis, Pieritz, Blake, Pegg. Olsen was just awesome. Pieritz Davis match was great but strange. Wish I could see a tape of this match because from where I was one takedown on the edge of the match was pretty clear with Pieritz having control and feet just inside the line. Another was also questionable. Davis wrestled great and I'd like to see this match-up again.
135- There's not too much to say here. I have been around this kid for many years and have never seen him so focused or dominating. No disrepect intended to the other 135 pounders but it Gosa and then the battle for 2nd. He is THAT good! I feel for Brent Schurr who gutted out a 6th pace finish. He was coming back from a knee problem and may have done more damage. Hope he's ok! The Freshman Hinzman from Alleman has another great tournament finishing 3rd
140- Another strange weight. I didn't really understand the seeding here but it didn't matter because I don't think anyone did. In the end it showed. Lind is ranked #4 and beats the #2 Taylor. Kindelsperger ranked like #6 beats Lind. All I got out of this weight class is Kindelperger deserved Outstanding Wrestler. He deserves a higher ranking. And Lind and Taylor need to pick it up to beat Kindelsperger because this kid's on fire and is the real deal. Nice job Aron!
145- Burton did win this match 9-3 over Jake Nelson. Burton is another kid who's on fire. Kevin Hodge had a nice showing giving Nelson all he could handle earlier in the tourney losing by 1 or 2.
152- Griffin majors Medina. I sure didn't see this coming.
160- Wenger is the Gosa story. It's Wenger and then the battle for 2nd. I thought Phillips wrestled good and Wenger still beat him 10-1.
171- The LOCK wonders he says? Garrity! It was a great match and Winterhalter looked good but Garrity looks like he's on a mission. It was Garrity over Winterhalter 9-4. Josh Burkhead also had a great tournament and Can't wait till Regionals to see how he does.
189- Gleissner and Nicholas was a great match too (6-3) but Gleissner knows how to win. And gets it done again.
215- This schocked me. Beam beats Feiden 11-7. Wow what a match!
275- Peterson is just getting better period! He's learned how to win. Feiden is an awesome wrestler and was giving up size and strength but man this guy is good. Peterson is better on his feet this year. He is brutal from the top. And he is on his way to a State Place. TJ Francis and Lucas Smith had a great match too. Are these two State Bound? I think so.

If my previous post was perceived as ref bashing or anything close that wasn't the intent and I apologize. I honestly thought Pieritz had a couple take downs where no control or out of bounds was called. But Anderson and Brower were alot closer to the action than I was so I'd have to say their decision was right. In my opinion Anderson is one of the best if not THE best referee I have seen. And if he'd have seen things differently he isn't wishy/washy about making a call. I have always thought Brower has been consistent too. Noway did I agree with last year's call at Sectional BUT overall I have seen consistently good reffing from him.
These guys did a great job with one of highest paced, action packed matches of the tournament. Things were happening so fast and furious it was hard to keep up. The refs did keep up and did a nice job.
And Davis just flat out wrestled a tremendous match. There is noway anything should be taken away from this kid. He is the real deal and did a great job. I just hope there is a rematch at State because these guys were exciting and put on a show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am Curious to the whole story of the Piertz Davis match. If you would rather not post the whole thing, just let me know and i'll drop you an email. Thanks

Those two guys wrestled one of the fastest matches that i have ever seen......Davis has been on a hot streak lately and will definatly make some noise down at state.
I really liked what i saw at the Orion tourny this year...in years past i have been there competing and havent had a chance to see how good the competition really is. hahaha.....i think i would have been able to take my old weight class
I have been to several tournaments this year, and by far this was the best. The food was also pretty good as usual.

It was a great match... I know Chuck learned a lot from it, and showed that in the 3rd place match... Davis is hot right now, and good luck to him for the rest of the year...

I would have to agree with RayMo. It was a strange tournament of sorts, starting with the seeding. Anyway, here's my take on a few of the weights I managed to see.
103 - Alber, Clark, Rush. Could the matches have been any closer? I think this could go either way on any given day. Loy is pretty close and had his Grandfather to worry about. Rush still needs to get bigger.
112 - Zurcher didn't have ay trouble winning this weight. Should do well through the end of the season.
130 - Peirtz is an awsome wrestler who can ride anybody, but was beaten on his feet. Maybe a few calls were questionable, maybe not, but in the famous words from Remember The Titans, "Leave No Doubt". Olson is a talented young man, no question about that.
135 - In my opinion, Gosa was the OW at the lower weights pinning his way through the tournament. I am not taking anything away from Kindelsperger,he is an awsome wrestler as well, but Gosa just keeps getting better and better.
140 - Kindelsperger is fun to watch. His match against Amy was a riot. 4 or 5 point moves back and forth by both. A very exciting match. Hope Lind is okay.
145 - Only saw the finals of this match, but Burton looks to be a strong kid who should not be overlooked by anybody.
160 - Wenger. I don't think I need to say anymore. An awsome wrestler from an awsome program. I only saw the finals of this one as well.
215 - Walked back in the gym just in time to see Beam's double over...lateral, or whatever it was. WOW! What a finish.
275 - My hats off to Feiden. Undersized considerably
but didn't give up. Of the 275ers, this kid gets my OW vote. If they all had his heart. Frances and Smith battled it out as well.
I didn't cover all weights, but there are some. Regionals are about upon us. Time to get ready for the Big Dance.
