Guys I have been out of state for quiet a few years. I have been trying to find information concerning old teammates kids.
I graduated from Sterling Newman in 1979.
I noticed that Savanna has been down that last couple of years.
I also noticed that several High Schools have joined together.

Any information about Savanna and the schools joining would be very helpful.

The old three rivers conference has changed a lot since you were around. The powers that were are now the bottom dwellers. Savanah is the punching bag along with Amboy now and Riverdale consistantly is running away with the crown. You alma mater Newman consistantly produces a state qualifier, but as a team, nothing. Definitly not representative of the power it holds in football. Hell, even the conference name has changed. It is now the Big Rivers Conference. Lots of changes, but still, the Quad City area is consistantly one of the best for wrestling.

In response, I have been around northwestern Illinois for some time. This is what I see. The area powerhouse is Dakota. Always has some great individuals, now has a great team. They have a large junior class - extremely talented. Oregon has been right up there as a team, but now only average. Riverdale has a BIGG , talented senior class. Good team, good individuals. Several state champ contenders. (Next year, they will be a punching bag.)Savanna is an average team without any standouts. The same with Amboy. As far as being punching bags, Erie/Prophetstown recently beat newman and Savanna always seems to have a state qualifior. Next year, I look for both of these teams to beat Riverdale and newman. Erie and Prophetstown have joined forces. They are above average as a team (good numbers / team spirit), and might qualify a couple for state. Sterling newman has a couple of studs,but the cupboard will be bare after this year - verry few returning. Their run of state champ contenders appears to be over for awhile AFTER this year.Stillman Vlley has a GREAT team with some state champion contenders and depth. They should be a power for several years. Rock Island Alleman is much like Riverdale - great team this year with some contenders. Should see a dropoff next year, but not as bad as rdale. Fulton has some good individuals, but not a full team. I don't think they lose much next year ... if they can fill some weights, could improve as a team. Morrison fields a full team, but inexperienced. pretty young ,I think.

Former Savanna wrestlers with kids wrestling ? not sure, but here are some names.

Francke , Mills, Law ,Mcintrye I'm pretty sure their parents wrestled ?
