I really find it interesting how the four men plus the petrol pump give this shot a strong vertical structure. Every time I look at this picture my eyes wander from the gentleman in the yellow jacket to his neighbour idling at the petrol pump, then they hop to the gentleman in black who, strolling away, lures us out of the picture, only to snap back to the fourth man, somewhat hidden behind the bus driver. And all this movement takes place in this shady yet so colourful station. You know that I too consider myself a "desaturated kinda guy" (I like that!) and yet I share your fascination about the way the colours have come out here. You know which is my preferred area of this shot? It's the striped reflective decoration of the petrol pump's foot. The reflective coating makes for a bright, enjoyable spot. And the pattern has a playful note.
