there is such a thing as bad ramen, bad udon, bad soba... bad "men" in general, hahaha... "menn" means noodles such as udon and soba
Or put it another way, some men is better than others ("is" because the noun is singular, which would take bit more explaination...). I am to the point were I can judge good rice, particularly sushi rice (cold cooked rice flavoured with vinegar). Soba is a little more difficult for me to judge, but I have gone with Japanese friends to the right establishments
. Sake on the other hand is easy... and with everthing Japanese it takes an eye understand really quality, and that's part of the fun of traveling with friends.
I have not eaten at that particular restaurant... the location is poor as it's right next to a love hotel
and I would guess that it's known more for drinking and location.
Visitors miss (miss-understand) most cultural issues and I have recently been talking to friends about the possibility to travel to the Tohoku Region (northeastern) Japan. It's a sensitive issue, more so than foreigners might realize. Good that I have some time to understand the implications and what is required of me if I travel there.
