Look at it this way, I could go to the gym and loose 1.2 kilos fairly easy and improve my long term health... , so you got to figure there are other factors beside the weight. (note you could do both for a net of 2.4 kilos ).
I have to agree that from time to time the big black dSLRs get old to lug around. The 40D and 100mm macro is a good kit... and will be serviceable for some time to come.
I have no experience with the Lumix DMC GH2 (with or without a macro). If you can afford it... why not. I guess you have looked at the examples on flickr...
Accessories (flash etc) are no problem?
For fun you could try a Leica film rangefinder with the Visoflex System (it's a mirror reflex box that goes between the camera and lens that allows you to focus on a ground glass)...
