And it was almost a throw away photo. I really couldn't get too close or get the angle I wanted because there was a barbed wire fence. I took the photo anyway thinking I would probally trash it. It was fairly mundane at first, but as I began playing with it and then cropping it, I saw this vision of Dorothy in a far away and surreal land. So I brought together a few elements of the film: B&W into color, a surreal landscape and then darkened clouds to give the ominous storm effect at the beginning of the film.
My photos tend to border on the surreal...and this one took a surreal amount of time to complete. I actually have a slightly better version which shows more ample sunlight onto the right hand side of the trailer. Oh well, picky me.
