Hello all,

It's been ages since I've had time to post here, but I wanted to share and get opinions on this tulip shot I took on a recent trip to Mackinaw Island....I went for a dramatic effect in post processing.

Shot on a brisk morning with a heavy dew. Thanks for looking.

Cheers, Al

I can almost smell it! You mentioned dramatic... is there another way you would post process it?

What kind of PP? Did you try a bit more sharpening?

What I did here....

July 9 2008, 4:41 PM

was add another layer on top using PhotoShop, then switch the layer to multiply. I had already done some selective darkening, but this brought out the colour and darkened the background a bit more.

I had sharpened the image a fair bit in RAW already before saving it as a jpeg.

Thanks you for your comment!

Al, welcome back

Glad to see you posting again in our Forum.

This tulip looks very elegant with the black background. The droplets suggest freshness and evoke pictures in me of walks through flowery meadows. The radiant pinks and reds, the glittering droplets, the soft outline, taken all together they risk to add a kitsch element to the shot. But for a flower shot this is not a bad quality at all. Flowers are sweet, after all. So, I don't hope you get me wrong. It's a very successful shot and I hope to see more.

Thanks, Valentin
