A couple of recent butterly shots - taken handheld with the Canon 40D and 100-200L lens. Not a macro lens by any stretch of the imagination, but I find it does a decent job

These are great, specially #1. I think the color is just right. Did you have any trouble with sharpening?

These actually came out better than I expected since the butterfly wouldn't sit still for any length of time

Sharpening did take more care than usual due to the textures and patterns of the butterfly.

Stan

#1 is a truly elegant composition with the body of the butterfly and the flower forming a triangle. What's more, the sandy background brings out the nice colours of both the flower and the Swallowtail.

In can be seen on both shots that the sharpening was applied with the utmost care. Splendid images, both of them.
