the original is a 30mPix pano, and it seems so small this way...

From a weekend in Portland, we were under the blue skies, but could see the incoming storm just across the bay

The picture is simultaneously beautiful and ominous.

Aaron, nice panoramic shot

and a good subject for this type of image. I have never attempted this, but given the right setting...

The clouds and rain showers in the distance really give a sense of proportion and distance. I guess with the clouds as they are you need to be somewhat quick about shooting the series. As well with the wave patterns... The road off to the left balances the expanse of water. Perfect spot for some time with the family.

It looks very good to me,

I think the curve works very well to lead us to the storm and the fact that the top of the chain link fence aligns with the water's edge is a happy coincidence (was it planned?)

The pano view really works for me

Very cool -- my tendency would have been to focus in on one area (for instance, the area of the rainstorm) rather than to enjoy the full view. This really benefits from the broad look -- and for me the "small" size of the image is actually a benefit, as I think that the image does well when seen as a whole rather than in its parts (which might be the result of seeing it in a much larger size).

Thanks for posting this!

Best,

Gary G
