Oh, I like this one. That guy probably wondering what the heck...

you're shooting at. Happens to me all the time. When I'm in the mood, i wait for them to look back to the cam with that puzzled look. Hehe.

Btw, I thought, FOR THE MOST PART OF YESTERDAY, that it was already FRIDAY!!!

Happens to me all the time it's scary.

You need a Rolex President with the day of the week...

June 3 2011, 1:52 AM

You're are a nasty guy to wait until they turn around wink.gif...

I like it when someone looks in the same direction as my lens, it adds to the focus of the image... hehehe...

And yes you need a day of the week indicator on the watch... maybe a perpetual moon phase as a next target since you seem to be on a buying spree.

Have a good weekend,
Casey

I don't know why this picture works so well !

Light, a good foreground and a "moving" background.

Yes. It works really well.

James... you can see behind the individual

June 3 2011, 4:30 PM

the Apple Store where the address is ginza 3 chome

Which has an English translation as follows:

Tokyo-to -> Chuo-ku -> Ginza -> 3-chome -> 5 -> 12

City of Tokyo
Chuo Ward (there are 23 wards in Tokyo)
3rd district in Ginza
5th area
12th building (or other sub division)

An address could also be followed by the Building name and/or appartment number etc.

Addresses are convienently written from the largest division to the smallest, thus "Japan" would preceed Tokyo in the above example rather than at the end as in most western countries. Of course if you write in English (for example) the country would be at the end, as follows (where I have added the postal code - hahaha)...

3-5-12 Ginza
Chuo-ku, Tokyo
104-0061 Japan

Thanks Deniz

I am pleased with the results of this lens and looking forward to run some b&w film. I always find the "scale" of that part of Ginza wonderful... such a large street in an area with expensive property... The reference for land prices in Japan is a square meter in Ginza just a block from the location of of this image.

I think the geometry

June 4 2011, 8:02 PM

is part of what makes it work well. It puts some order to the picture. I remember a professor I had who once told me when I was doing a drawing (our assignment was to do a "drawing" expressing the general mood of the context of a busy avenue) which was very chaotic, "put some rigid elements in the drawing so it can have some organization". I chose block lettering with the names of the stores or streets in or around the avenue.

It's one of my favorite locations to visit...

June 5 2011, 12:50 AM

beside the obvious draw of the shops and atmosphere of Ginza, I like the wide street and canyon like feeling of the shops on both sides. Even the road is a slightly different color than most... a lighter colored surface.

The empty street here and the two taxis also were interesting...

Yep, the color looks very good.

Street Photography in color. I just posted above regarding this, and had missed this post. Coincidence.

Color is a little difficult for me to process

June 5 2011, 12:56 AM

I struggle with the saturation... of course good color is easier than so-so color in post hahaha... My sense is that reversal film needs bright color, such as deep blue sky and snow capped mountains. Negative film for the more subtle colors. It does take a different eye to work with color.

B&W is a different approach... more light and shadow approach, and very distinct from working in color. I read your comments above and have some thoughs there as well....
