Just came back from US....

AKB48 is the most popular group in Japan (read, make the most money... not sure how they calculate but anyway). It was started some years ago in AKIHABARA with about 48 teenage girls, to promote business (Akihabara is the place in Tokyo where they sell electronic goods). Now there are groups in Osaka, Nagoya, etc called OSA48, NAG48 or whatever, I cannot keep track of all these teenage girl groups...

Soooo these three boys at university are playing off that girl group theme

I would be more nervous if the students were too serious or in a funk... but students being students is a comfort to me... For myself, I spent my collage days in a bit of a fog

The atmosphere on campus is quite relaxed and they have been promoting foreign students, so you see a lot of non-Japanese walking around. In that last image there are a couple of older ladies just behind the girl handing out the documents. Good mix of people...

It was indeed the university where I took my language study... most likely I will do the level two course in September/October. It's about one hour by train from home - two or three trains depending on the connection. But a good chance to study the vocabulary before the classes start .
