Batanes, 2012

Photobucket

Definitely used hyperfocal on this one. They were tying down the boat that we used in getting to this place. Thought I'd share a sunny photograph as we've entered the rainy season yet again.

This afternoon I dusted off a Canonet QL17 (45mm) from the office cabinet. It belonged to a late friend of mine. A borrowed thing for sure but I never found the opportunity to return it to his family. It was lent to me "forcibly" to be honest. "Here, c'mon try it out. Use it". I couldn't say no.

I googled the manual for this camera and also searched for film loading instructions in Youtube :p

No, i didn't load film onto it. Just, vicariously. Hehehe. I got disoriented with this little thing as most of the controls were on the fixed lens and none on the top plate. Very interesting design.

Well, back to the cabinet it went.

I have to do the same with my Bessa R4M. And maybe actually use it one of these days.

It was a nice break in the afternoon fondling that Canonet amidst the din of work outside my room. These old things have a pleasant way of tearing you away from the present albeit very temporarily.

Cheers,

Echi

yes the color is nicely done...

processed in Lightroom no doubt... This definately needed to be a color image... and again some separation between the boys and that beautiful water. and the thee shadows... Their work is somewhat unclear but you can see the end of their rope on the break water across the way... nice detail.

Have you tried using any filters with your setup? I am thinking PL (which is a challange with a range finder but not impossible) or ND???

Yes rainy season is upon us... from tomorrow (Saturday) we have rain in the forecast for every day next week... time to put the moisture absorbing packages into the closet...

hehehe so the Ca-no-net went back into the ca-bi-net sounds like an exercise in conjugation... Do we sense some GAS at work? Judging by the last few images, you don't need another camera yet wink.gif. Buy a new watch instead...

Hahaha! Noooo...

new watch, my friend. my cashflow is all over the place at the moment. it needs to stabilize soooon. hahaha!!!

doesn't help that i go to all the forums. pam372, that new rolex djII, even the daytona is still there in the running... the zenith daytona one is nice though. i'm even waiting for when the new JLC MC and the Cartier LC Tank will hit the shores so I can check it out. I love watches but they're so usual... As our friend Eduardo said, "they can't take pictures"!

don't really need a new camera. my friend has an actual 5x8 Monochrom print from Robert Trail that he wants me to check out. the tonality is amazing )or so he says) although he wasn't quite sure that the M9 can't replicate it. i'm happy with a couple gordy's wrist straps. i also got a roberu 6shiki neck strap from Japan via Kaufmann Mercantile. It's nice but the wrist straps are more handy for 90% of the time.

i only have a polarizer from b+w hasemann(?) i just piggybacked on an order my friends made and said ok what the hell :p i used it in Mindoro, btw. it was nice. i got the hango of it although it gets dicey when you change shooting position and you forget to adjust happy.gif

oh, also got a leica handgrip to go with that wrist strap. but it won't make it in time for my trip to cambodia next week.

yeah the M is more than I can handle at the moment! although the 18mm super elmar calls ... boys will be boys!
