Response to I've seen reproduction "antique" shutter hinges

at L.A.S. Enterprises.*

They are wood-grained aluminum and available in louvered or flat board style, powder-baked paint, no maintenance lockable. They ain't cheap. As much for security as for protection from wind-driven debris damage, we ordered the louvered kind for our front windows. Now my wife is telling me she prefers the other kind. I reminded her of the long waiting list which has our stuff being fabricated in August, so there is time to change, but she stuck with what we picked together. I hope that decision does not come up again as a point of controversy.

* I would rather "put this man to work" than "fight the uglies". The older commercial with Oscar, the forlorn looking "skilled siding technician who doesn't get much work this time of year" was a New Orleans classic that somehow had more appeal than the cartoon "ugly" they wanted us to fight.
