thing this spring, you have to make sure the sugar water if fresh. It does spoil quickly, maybe just fill it 1/4 full o so. Once they find your feeder, you cant ever let it go empty as they depend on it for survival. So they wont go back if they find it empty. I put my feeders out yesterday but I dont know if the hummers are here yet, it is cooling off again up here this week..It was amazing watching them last fall, they hit it hard before heading south. I am wondering if I will have the same ones coming back this year??
I think I mentioned it before. It's made of re-bars welded together to form a trunk and branches. You then place empty bottles (mostly from booze) upside down over the tips of the "branches". My mother is getting fancy now by hanging bottles with wires to create wind chime-like qualities.
