I remember a bar and restaurant on that corner, but the name escapes me. When I first went on the NOPD I worked in The Auto Theft Bureau which was under the Claiborne Overpass and right across the street from that place. It was great to be able to sneak over there and have a few beers and a sammich.
My friend just told me she was looking for the odd number addresses on Magazine in the blocks mentioned. I appreciate your research! She's going to write to Julia Street & Poydras the parrot if she can't find her answer.
I like kids. They taste like chicken.
(Had to edit this several times for it to show up correctly.)

I never knew that! I took a ride past there on the way home from lunch today and the building is basically the same, except they closed off the corner entry and plastered over it and the oval windows that used to face both Claiborne and Poydras Streets. The place looks like a warehouse now. When we used to sneak over there at night to drink beer while we we were working across the street it wasn't a White Kitchen.....this was in early 1964.
