As the pundits claimed two years ago, "this team is not as good as last year, they may not even get out of the section". Well...here we are again, a team that is not the overpowering steamroller that last years was, but that is gelling and playing their best ball of the season at exactly the right time. The running game is in high gear and the defense is playing at their season peak, two things that will doom all but the staunchest opponents. The turnovers, which kept alot of the early season games close, are minimal and the penalties have been coming down steadily over the last three games. And don't forget, the team speed is incredible... and magnified on turf. This team is different, no doubt, but the confidnece built by coming from behind to beat good teams, and never having a close game with the others, speaks volumes. There are some very good teams out there this year, however someone will have to take it from us to win it all, and if that happens, its not going to be easy or painless.
Forks coaching is first rate, and I'm sure Kelsey is keeping the Devils focused right on Friday night. This team come prepared, they play every game like its the only one and with the work ethic we saw against Norwich, I thinking they're peaking at the right time.
Owego benefited from home field advantage against a Windsor squad that isn't as well coached as Forks, who was probably just looking ahead to a Forks rematch, and from what I've read elsewhere (correct me if I'm wrong) some injuries too. They don't have that against the Devils, they'll have their hands full. Forks is a much stronger and quicker team than the Knights and I think has the mentality of they still have more to prove.
This should be an excellent game and at the Devils' second home, they seem to love playing at Alumni Stadium!
Let's compare just the basic numbers through nine games...
DEFENSE:
Forks has allowed 86 points (9.6 points/game)
Owego has allowed 137 points (15.2 points/game)
OFFENSE:
Forks has scored 328 points (36.4 points/game)
Owego has scored 161 points (17.9 points/game)
Now both Owego and Forks have improved over the last four weeks, but no one on the Owego schedule scored as many points or limited their opponents to as little as the Blue Devils have (the closest in both figures on the Indians schedule was Corning, and East won 27-0). Now I don't think this will be a shutout; I do believe it will be a good game, but I also believe Forks is just too deep and better coached than anything the Indians have seen yet.
i know that owego is good..however i think forks will pull it out, i think they will win the section but in the state tourney i think they'll get beat..but whoever they play, forks will not go down easy so there should be some pretty good games in the state tournament.
I wonder what simple satisfaction you must be hoping to receive from stating the obvious. It's always a roll of the dice. The nature and probability of the universe invariably dicates that at some point even the most remarkable series of events comes to a conclusion. However now, for a brief moment in time, this string of CF football teams has beaten the odds. We should all be amazed and thankful that this random collection of coaches, players and fans has come together at this precise moment in time for us to bear witness to such a wonderfully harmonic equation that has created this unlikely spike in the data, a departue from the average, this marvelous win streak. The laws of physics already provide that this streak will end at some point, but if it ends next week or it ends in three more years does not matter. These players and coaches have already achieved the incredible, the fantastic, what no other group of CF teams has achieved. They will now be remembered and immortalized forever.
ok...so your saying that its incredible what forks has done up til now..i will agree with you on that. but you said that a streak must end somewhere, and all i am saying is that, in my opinion, it will be this year in one of the next 3 games.
anyone can say we are going to lose. just to say told you so. all devil is saying is so what. in nice words. i am not so nice. lol. and another thing he is saying is that the coaches at the forks accomplished something no one in section 4 has done. win back to back state titles. and have the longest winning streak in section 4. both in section 4 and total games played. vestal had it i think before the state championships now we have it. in addition, he is saying we are very proud of all the teams that have played during this time. and if we do lose sure it well be heart broken but they already have accomplished so much . we will stand proud no matter what. another thing we will be there if they are 0-9 and still be as proud just alittle miserable lol.
ok...its true..sorry i was such an ass. my bad. forks has accomplished a lot and they should be proud of all the things they have done in the last few years.
