Have you disassembled Sigmas? Are they "close enough"? i have two
Sigma 75-200f2.8-3.5
QTII 28-70f3.5-4.5 (macro)
(i think QT is/was a Sigma relabel?) which i got as "parts" lenses cheaply and which are tantalizingly close to being useable:

i was wondering about the utility of swapping the "chips" in the two lenses? i had a brief try with a 7D, and it just would not do anything with the 75-200. i suppose if i swapped chips i might get inaccurate FL reporting, which might not be great for AS ... but it would be really nice to have a nice fast lens like that even if slightly AS compromised.
