Unfortunately it looks like all the AF lens registration distances are longer than the old Minolta MF distance ... except Olympus:

Canon might give you a bit more room than MAF does so there might be a direct attack.

Which in turn mentioned a Canon electronic adapter which gives AF confirmation for MF lenses:

Doesn't help with infinity focus ... but sure would be nice:) And might be most of what you want a 58f1.2 lens for:-)
