Wolfe's of New Orleans

Wolfe’s of New Orleans has now been around for three years. And, in celebration of their third anniversary of doing business as a successful restaurant in the toughest town for restaurants, they threw a party.

They put together a party of food and wine at a price that was embarrassing for the participants.

Now, to let you known, this restaurant is located on the lakefront at 7224 Pontchartrain Blvd., in the West End section of town. It is next to the West End Café and near Russell’s Marina Grill if that helps you out. The web site is: wolfesofneworleans.com

The phone number is 284-6004.

It is an upscale restaurant in a casual setting. The building is an old home with a covered front porch which would be great for dining en plein air in the fall. The food, service, and attention to detail rivals the great restaurants in the French Quarter. Parking is available on the site or nearby.

The Chef ( Tom Wolfe ) is always in the kitchen and do not be surprise if he comes to your table to check on the food and service.

At this particular event, I have to share with you some of the menu items. Let me tell you that the food and wine flowed. For the price, you walked away stuffed.

The Chef started with hor’s d’oeuvres of spicy fried oysters with BBQ bleu cheese glaze; pate de foie gras; chile rubbed satay & spicy peanut dipping sauce; and salmon gravlax on grilled rye croutons & caviar crème fraiche.

Next came the Maine lobster and goat cheese pot sticker on a baby arugula with Vidalia onions, 12 year old Balsamic vinegar, Louisiana caviar and a mango vinaigrette.

The second course was a cabbage wrapped truffle studded scallop in a truffle chive potato soup with celery root slaw and crispy parsnips.

The third course was an apple wood smoked bacon wrapped demi filet of beef tenderloin on Louisiana jumbo lump crab and purple potato gratin. Marrow crusted grilled asparagus and classic marchands de vin.

The final dessert course was white chocolate butter bars with vanilla bean ice cream and raspberry chambord coulis.

This was all done for $80.00 per person plus gratuity and tax.

And, let me assure you that the food and wine abound all night long.

This is a quality restaurant whether for lunch or dinner and one in which the servers treat you as a very special person upon your arrival.

It is also a place to bring that special person for a romantic evening. The Chef is the owner and is on the premises at all times. This is a special place in an out of the way area in which you can pass a good time.

Now, some of us go out to eat and some of us go out to be pampered while enjoying great food and wine. This is a place to go to for the pampering.

You can expect the following upon arrival and during your stay:

Being greated at the entrance and having the door opened for you;

Having your table for the stay and not being rushed;

Your chair pulled out for you and your napkin in place after a visit to the restroom;

A visit to your table by the Chef;

An amuse-gueule whether for lunch or dinner;

You and your guests will all be served your selection together and at the same time by a number of servers;

Special requests granted without any problems and with vigor;

Sinful dessert.

I love this place.
