Pier 51 Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar (LaPlace - 985 651 0300 )

We sat at the bar and ordered a dozen on the half shell. While we waited we were presented with a bowl of the best hush puppies we ever had. Slightly sweet, golden brown - these puppies were great! The oysters were shucked and delivered promptly. They were described to me (I don’t eat them) as clean, meaty and salty. Next hubby had the house salad. It was fresh and crisp with lettuce, tomato, croutons and a “very good” bleu cheese dressing. Our entrees were shrimp parmesan and a fried shrimp plate. They are quite generous with the portions. The spaghetti sauce was very good and the shrimp were large. I had a side of grilled veggies that had a perfect amount of seasoning - spicy, but not enough to make you sweat. According to the owner, Anthony Landry, the most popular items on the menu are the crabmeat and mirliton soup, the walnut brownie a la mode and the bread pudding. We were too full to have dessert but plan to return tonight for the $3.00 a dozen Wednesday oyster special. If you sit at the bar Miguel is sure to take good care of you. Anthony Landry (owner) is friendly and knows Louisiana seafood.
