Sazerac

The office girls Christmas luncheon was Friday at Sazerac in the Fairmont. I've lived here all my life and have never gone to the Fairmont at Christmas. It was absolutely beautiful and the food was very good. There was a buffet for $16.95 with pork loin, pasta, salad & veggies but we decided to order from the menu. I was pleasantly surprised to see burgers & po boys on the menu. They had a little something for everyone. Some of us ordered a shrimp in cream sauce appetizer (no one can remember the name - maybe we had too much champagne, sazeracs, wine...?). The cream sauce was velvety and slightly sweet. I could have ordered three of those and skipped the main course. My entree was the mahi mahi wrapped in a crispy potato crust. The fish was cooked just right. Juicy inside and crisp potato outside. For dessert half of us ordered the creme brulee and the other half ordered chocolate mousse. The mousse was covered by a hard chocolate shell. Both the mousse and the creme brulee were enjoyed by all. If you have the opportunity to eat at Sazerac while the Christmas decorations are up I definitely recommend you do so.
