Common Grounds Cafe & Coffeehouse

Been going there once or twice a week lately.

Miz Audrey whips up Artichoke Amelia, an app that is like a bigger artichoke ball, but then fried. Never had anything like it before! delish!

Miz Audrey works on Sat morn, Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri nights. I particularly like her cooking. It's not been as good when she's not there. Too bad. The salads leave a lot to be desired in the lettuce dept. I am thinking about talking to them about this.

This little cafe kinda reminds me of The Whistle Stop Cafe in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. The Fourth Street Train passes every time I am there, horn sometimes blowing along with the big wraparound windows and friendly folk "hanging out" fill out the whole picture. Reminds me of a time warp of sorts. The hallway to the Ladies & Mens Rooms have historic pictures lining the walls. There is also a bar and a shoeshine guy. Night before last, none other than Harry Lee was dining a couple of tables away. I often see the Mayor of Gretna and his wife. A nice folksy kind of place.

Tuesday's special is Chicken Parmesan, with eggplant sticks & garlic bread & side of pasta. Also spaghetti & meatballs. Wed is brisket and other BBQ. They make a really good burger.

The bread pudding is very good and all of their desserts are on display in a case. They all look very good.
