La Petite Grocery was very nice. It's attractive, an old building with very high ceilings which are painted red and a spacious room it is kind of of stark, bare maybe a bit cold, but very pleasant with tables not too close together and mirrors. Service was very good. Food was very good. Nice wine selection. Spousal had the mushroom tart with goat cheese and pine nuts and perhaps some pesto and I had the crawfish ravioli. I think his was better, but mine was good. The Pasta was quite al dente. He had the duck which was on mashed potatoes. Nice slices, he enjoyed. I had the seared tuna with a big old wad of garlic butter on top tinted about the same pink as the tuna. I really enjoyed it, it was on some thinly sliced pieces of potato cut the length of the potato, not into rounds and called a galette,(well ok, kinda) and with groups of 3 or 4 skinny haricots verts cooked tendercrisp artfully arranged . My father had a filet and enjoyed, my mother had shrimp and got them overcooked the way she wanted and asked for. Everybody enjoyed the meal. Biggest complaint was the seats are hard and uncomfortable and the table too small. I was well pleased, not delighted but it is a very nice place. Appetizers in the 7.50 and up range, entrees from $17 to $21. We eschewed soup and dessert. We ordered wine by the glass and Had a Cotes du Rhone,Schug Chardonnay and a Meritage. A very pleasant place to dine. parking is available across the street after 6PM in the Model Cleaners lot, but we were able to park on the street.
