When I ate here early last summer they resided in the French Quarter. Since then they moved Uptown. I participate in three different Food Forums based in New Orleans to keep my hand on the pulse of the food establishments there. While a few people have had bad experiences with the new location the majority say that it is as good as ever.
Their entrees can be quite expensive and the then lunch specials prove uninteresting to me. Therefore I ordered a series of appetizers. A look at the website revealed a lunch menu that I would love to try and may if I make to this place again. First up was Salt and Pepper Crawfish. Whenever I see Salt & Pepper I always order it as it suits my taste. The dishes vary a bit from restaurant to restaurant but I am generally satisfied with them. In this case crawfish in a spicy coating were fried then dry woked with green onions and chile peppers. An absolutely incendiary bowl of chile sauce accompanied it. I held on to that because it possessed great flavor as well as heat. It enhanced the other dishes that I ate. The crawfish were nice and spicy but not so much it seared your tongue. You could taste them. Next came Spicy Cabbage Seafood Soup. In a killer broth full of seafood flavors I received shrimp and crawfish along with Korean kim chi. Again the spice level allowed the flavors of the soup to come through while still giving a substantial kick to it. My last order, Crab Cake, proved not to be my favorite. It possessed good flavor but seemed ultra dense and loaded with panko crumbs. The twin sauce (red chile and hollandaise) tasted delicious but could not save the experience. Did it put me off? No, I would return in a second. There are just too many interesting dishes at this venue to avoid it because one semi bad thing.
