116 N Woodlawn Ave, Metairie, LA
We've passed by the place thousands of times (as viewed from West Metairie Road) but only today did we stop in for lunch. Wonderful fried chicken, great roast beef po-boy, huge portions, very affordably priced. Highly recommended for a casual or family meal. Here are some unfocused photos:

Corner of Flamingo Street and North Woodlawn (a short block off of West Metairie and a block before Clearview Parkway if coming from town).

The entrance.

Blurry interior shots. The place ain't fancy but it's nicer than I expected (I didn't expect much).

A fairly extensive menu which includes many old time New Orleans favorites -- many of which are not found often now-a-days, included a WOP Salad.

The salad which was included with my $9.50 half fried chicken dinner. Large, full of olives, celery, tomatoes, cocktail onions, and capers. The house Italian dressing was a bit sweet for my taste but Mike liked it.

A cup of seafood gumbo that is larger than the bowls served in many restaurants. It reminded me more of a bisque than a gumbo but I liked it. I think this was the end of a batch -- the crab was pretty much cooked down. I'd try it again. Mikehad a cup (same size as mine) of shrimp Creole that he said "needed something" but after adding a few drops of hot sauce (a brand I'm not familiar with; starts with a "B" and is made in St. Martinville) he said it was just fine.

Mike's roast beef po-boy -- large, full of sliced beef and rich "just thick enough" home-made gravy. Delicious and only $6.50.

My half fried chicken on seafood platter toast. I'll be back for more. This is a flakey, crunchy, fairly thick, absolutely greaselss batter.

A nice little touch of lagniappe that comes with the tab. Our bill was $32 and change and we took home more food than we could finish in one sitting.
