Chiefs - Aeros

This game was a great advertisement for women's hockey. Absolutely fabulous game to watch, even better than watching these two teams in the final of the Missy tournament. Both teams appeared to have short benches with some key players (Dittmer, Reid) missing. Pace was non-stop with both goalies outstanding. Both teams should be congratulated for playing with so much heart and hats off to Angela James and her crew for controlling the game but still letting the girls play. For an otherwise very classy organization, though, when are the Aeros going to start playing in full size, adequately lit, properly flooded rinks instead of Grandravine, Don Mills and Habitant? And, North Metro, what's with the huge rush to always get the third period going so quickly? Most of the games we've seen this year have come nowhere near being curfewed, yet the officials insist on starting the third period with the ice still soaking wet (Zamboni incompetence is a whole other issue). In the first few minutes of the third, how often do you see the puck stick to the ice on rushes and clearing attempts? It's going to unfairly cost some team a critical goal in some game - why not wait the couple of extra minutes?
