Response to Etobicoke Dolphins 5, Brampton 1 |
| By the sounds of your post regarding Brampton’s semi final game against Etobicoke, you, like the Durham members are suggesting that #71, Lana Norris is a goon. However, it is apparent to me that your accusations are completely wrong. I know this player well, as my daughter played with her in a previous year with Mississauga, and never would I consider her actions on the ice to be anything that represents those of a goon. Yes Lana is aggressive and intense on the ice, however this is merely because she is in the game, or the zone if you will. But is she a goon, I don’t think so. Never in my life have I seen Norris to go out on the ice headhunting for opposing players, this is what a goon does. The aggression and intensity that she brings to the ice is nothing short of hard, competitive play, which not only benefits her team, but is also part of the reason she is a highly skilled player. Lana is a very responsible, smart hockey player, and anything that happens on the ice, with her, stays on the ice. She is one of the nicest most respectful people I know in the hockey community both on and off the ice and will always engage in conversation with just about anyone at the rink. Attitudes are generally resemble each other both on and off the ice, and there is no possible way, from the experiences of my own personal interactions with Lana, that she could be a goon on the ice. I know many players, parents and coaches who absolutely love her personality, and many agree with me that her attitude contributes greatly to any team she is part of. I cannot say that I have seen all games she has played this year because that would be a tremendous lie, however I have seen a few, including the one she played on Saturday and so far this year have seen no “goonish” behavior from Lana. Also with regards to the comments about #66 being a goon, I believe that these are false accusations also. I do not know this player personally, but I have seen her play on a number of occasions both last year and this, and NEVER have I seen her do anything that resembles a goon. From what I have seen she is a very elite player who works hard every shift she is on the ice. I believe both players have an “A” on their sweater for a very good reason as they both seem to be extraordinary team leaders. I believe that any persons who wish to make accusations about a players style, should make sure they know who they are talking about before they announce their unsupported opinions in a public place, such as this website. Also before coming to conclusion, you should get to know the player(s) you are knocking, because I can assure you, if you knew Lana Norris, you would not consider her a goon, but would see her as an impact player who plays with aggression and intensity which can motivate her team in the matter of one shift, and a very respected person by almost all that know her, and I believe there are many out there that would agree with me.
I think the “player bashing” should be put to a stop on this website, as I can find only one word to describe it, pathetic.
I wish good luck to everyone in the remainder of their seasons.
