Response to The ACT (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly)
Dear poster this is a topic that I was going to address this week as we are into exams and the Guidance Dept. at your school will just be putting your timetable for next year together. Students in grade 10 should get into their Guidance Dept. and make sure they get Math and English in the First Semester. I will get into this with more detail in a separate post as to why.
As to your question, the College Board has a trial test that you can take called the PSAT. These are used for Merrit Scholarships in the US and for entrance into Prep Schools. The College Board gives you a score and they also predict how you would do on the actual SAT. This gives you an idea what areas you need to work on. Taking these tests before you take Grade 11 Math are a waste of time because the Math section asumes a Grade 11 level has been covered. The College Board and the ACT Test Centre do not expect Junior students to take their tests till after the first semester when they should have taken Grade 11 Math/English and completed the courses.
Hope this helps.
PS. A separate Thread on this topic will appear very soon
