Sorry girls, but the quality of the play was fast and furious t the provincials. If you left feeling cheated, you probably were! I have never in my hockey watching history saw so much hooking and hacking as what I witnessed this weekend. The refs didn't seem to mind ignoring everything but let me tell you it is NOT the way hockey was intended to be played.

When your fast enough to elude the opposition with the puck the onus is on the defender to SKATE or pick up another player, Not hook or Slash from behind at all cost. This 30 min format has got to stop. Penalties are most severe and scoring becomes non existent. Sportsmanship was also rather absent on the weekend except for some notable exceptions.

You are not supposed to trash talk, yell or otherwise berate your opposition with immunity just because the play is going on. Hearing vile language and threats clearly in the stands from players is going to kill your sport. The referees were intimidated not to control this behaviour thus suggesting it's part of the game. ITS NOT, OK! If you were on TV with video you would be pretty ashamed to view it in replay.

My challenge to the Midget AA. Show us that the evolution of womens hockey is not "The Slash, Hack and Hook" league that Intermediate AA has become.

P.S. If this was refereeed like a JR Mens game there would have been an average of 40 minutes in penalties a game.

-Coaches,have a coffee and reflect on where your taking your team! A lot are on the wrong path.
