Response to Re: Detecting my Valvebody Version

Hello Silverfox,
i looked in the star are, there is a 7 stamped,
maybe a good vb for a swap.
I think i try it, one more time wallow in oil

But i have 2 more questions before.

1. In my overhaul kit were 2 different gaskets,
which can be installed between vb and sep plate.
One for the pre 1990 vb and one for vb from 1990.
The gasket for the newer version has a cut to prevent
a "buzzing problem".
I installed the pre 1990 gasket in the 1991 vb,
because this gasket verstion was installed as i got the
transmission. Can my downshift problem occur cause of the wrong gasket?

2. If i use the 1987 valvebody and install the 1991 sep plate
as you describe, the holes for the 3-4 accumulator in the case
are closed. Is this ok?
I thought the older valve bodys use the external 3-4 accumulator?
If this is ok, i would install the 1987 vb vor the test.
I know that the 1987 valvebody work,
it is a standard unit without shift kit or something from a mustang.

Patrick
