The pedals I used (which I bought 2nd hand from a parts supplier) are indeed from a 1970 donor car.
The assist spring is in place and pushes the pedal right against the stop (white arrow)
Now my pedal is way too far up, I can't even reach it without my knee hitting the steering wheel and far from in line with the brake pedal. I'm absolutely puzzled how to adjust this excessive height.
Is it always suppose to rest against the top stop that you see in the pic ?

Also as you can see (red arrow) there's this little bracket which I haven't mounted yet, does this have anything to do with the clutch pedal or it's height ? Could anyone tell me what it's purpose is ?
